Video: NC cop pushes K-9 into suspect's car window

A 15-person jury cleared the officer of any wrongdoing

WILMINGTON, N.C. — Dash-cam video of a pursuit coming to an end shows a responding K-9 officer lift his K-9 partner into the suspect’s car window.

Johnnie Williams had driven through a DUI checkpoint on October 31, prompting a pursuit in which he nearly hit three police officers, according to WECT.

The pursuit ended when K-9 Officer Stafford Brister used a pit maneuver to stop Williams’ vehicle. Williams can be seen in the video raising his arms just as Brister lifts his K-9 partner up to the window to enter the vehicle.

Williams was taken to the hospital to treat lacerations on his face and shoulder from the K-9, according to the report.

Monday, a grand jury of 15 people decided Officer Brister should not face criminal charges for his actions. Brister remains on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

A grand jury indicted Williams on charges including assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, being a habitual felon and traffic violations.
