GLASSBORO, N.J. — A K-9 has died after escaping from its kennel and being struck by a car.

The South Jersey Times reports K-9 Anka was frightened by the sound of fireworks in the area and escaped from her kennel by ripping off a part of the fencing.

Police searched the area for the K-9 and found her in the street suffering from severe injuries.
