Fla. man: Police threat tweet a 'misunderstanding'

Man says says he's never been to New York or attended an Occupy event

Associated Press

NEW YORK — A Florida man who tweeted during a New York City Occupy protest about killing police officers says it was all a misunderstanding.

Rusty Braxton tells the Daily News he thinks police are doing a great job.

The restaurant manager says he was watching the Occupy demonstration on UStream and browsing in a chat room when he tweeted: "we wont make a difference if we dont kill a cop or 2." But he says he wasn't even talking about the protest.

About 70 Occupy protesters were detained Saturday after activists gathered in Zuccotti Park to mark six months of the movement.

Braxton, who lives in Oviedo, says he's never been to New York or attended an Occupy event.

It's unclear if the NYPD considers Braxton a real threat, but the department has said it was investigating.
