Texas cop shot in head, SWAT surrounds gunman's hotel

The officer is expected to survive; SWAT is in contact with the gunman

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said in a statement that an officer responding to a call in a Super 8 hotel room was shot in the head during the exchange but is expected to survive.

Police snipers are on the scene, along with SWAT team units and police helicopters, where the gunman and a woman are believed to still be holed up, according to Reuters.com.

The officer is an eight-year veteran with the San Antonio police but his name has not yet been released.
