Carry a backup flashlight

Darkness could be your friend, but it also might be your enemy — depending on the situation and your tactic.

There’s nothing worse than a flashlight that doesn’t work when you need it — maybe even when your life depends on it. I once had the situation when an officer asked for a flashlight: “Uh, I forgot mine,” he said, “Got one for me?”

For the reasons above, I always carry a small backup flashlight in my pocket.
