PENSACOLA, Fla. — An officer has been fired in connection to the arrest of a woman during a traffic stop that was captured on dash-cam.
Pensacola Police Officer Christopher Geraci is alleged to have used excessive force in the arrest of hit-and-run suspect Abbi Bonds last week, The Pensacola News Journal reported.
In the dash cam video, Bonds is seen leaving her car while on her cellphone. She ignores commands to return to the vehicle, at which point Geraci grabs her and pushes her against the car.
Bonds was not seriously injured and did not file a complaint, but Chief Chip Simmons watched the video during a routine review and said the conduct was "not how we train."
Following an internal investigation into the incident, Geraci was fired Friday and charged with battery. A Fraternal Order of Police spokesman said the organization is aiding Geraci in his defense.
Bonds was charged with DUI and fleeing an accident scene.
