Ark. school shooter arrested again
BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Convicted Jonesboro school shooter Mitchell Johnson, who is awaiting sentencing on a federal weapons charge, has been arrested again, authorities said.
Johnson was being held Monday in the Benton County Jail on a misdemeanor drug possession charge, jail authorities said.
Records show Johnson was booked into the jail Sunday and a jailer said Monday morning that no bond had yet been set. No other details were immediately available; Bentonville police spokesmen weren't in the office early Monday morning.
Johnson, now 23, and another student at Jonesboro Westside Middle School in northeast Arkansas killed four students and a teacher in an ambush in 1998. Johnson was 13 at the time and was freed from custody when he turned 21. Last week, Johnson was convicted by a federal jury of possessing a gun while being a user of or addicted to a controlled substance for an arrest that followed his release.
Sentencing is pending for Johnson on the weapons conviction. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
