Md. man held in shooting
The Baltimore Sun
BALTIMORE — Maryland State Police arrested a 32-year-old man yesterday in a shooting Monday night in a home in Port Deposit that left a Delaware resident recovering from a bullet wound to his upper body, according to a statement from authorities.
Jamie A. Ratledge of the 100 block of Rock Run Road in Conowingo was charged with attempted first-degree and second-degree murder, attempted first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and the use of a handgun in commission of a crime, according to state police.
Police said the shooting occurred about 10 p.m. in a house on Clark Lane in Port Deposit, after the two men argued. Police said a friend drove the victim, Curtis W. Reed, 35, of Bear, Del., to Union Hospital in Elkton. He walked into the emergency room, and staff members there called police. Reed was later transferred by helicopter to Christiana Hospital in Delaware, where police said he was listed in serious condition.
Meanwhile, Maryland troopers went to the Clark Lane house and found that the suspect had left. Authorities said they searched for Ratledge through the night and found him early yesterday in a Knights Inn motel room on Belle Hill Road in Elkton. He was arrested about 9 a.m., and police said they later found a handgun in the room.
