SOUTH WALES, Australia — Six police divers and their equipment were thrown into the water after the motor on their boat cut out and it was hit by a wave off Corrimal Beach, in Wollongong.

None of the police officers were injured in the incident but the rough sea conditions impeded the search for eight-year-old Elakimu Muteba who went swimming on Monday evening and has not been seen since.

It is thought that the boy entered the water with his sister at around 6:20pm yesterday. They almost immediately got into trouble when they got caught in a rip tide.

The girl managed to reach the beach and call for help but onlookers were unable to get to the boy as he was pulled out to sea.

Local surf lifesavers have also been helping the search along with State Emergency Workers.
