Pa. police find 6-foot alligator during arrest

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

PITTSBURGH Police found an alligator and an emaciated pit bull when they arrested three robbery suspects at a Homewood residence Wednesday night.

The home in the 500 block of North Murtland Avenue was surrounded. The owner allowed officers in to search for the suspects. Officers ordered seizure of a 6-foot-long alligator seen moseying around the premises and an emaciated pit bull dog in the basement.

The dog and the gator were taken by Animal Control officers and turned over to the Animal Rescue League.

Police went to the home after a couple reported they had been robbed there earlier in the evening.

Officers found seven people inside the residence, with only an elderly gentleman who was not charged claiming to reside there.

Three of the visitors were arrested in connection with the robbery.

Paris Moore, 21, Kent Bratcher, 22, and Niquia Alston, 31, all were charged with splitting the $220 reported stolen from the victims. They were held in the Allegheny County Jail, pending a preliminary hearing Dec. 13.
