N.Y. man accused of booby trapping his door

BAY SHORE, N.Y. — Police in New York say they've arrested a man who booby-trapped his apartment door with a contraption made from a crutch, an elastic cord and a big knife.

Investigators say the Long Island man was charged Saturday with reckless endangerment. They say it appears he left the dangerous trap in his Bay Shore apartment for a phone company worker and his building superintendent, who discovered the device.

Police say Eric Stetz has been released on bail. He has an unlisted phone number, and attempts to contact him have been unsuccessful.
