Owners angry after cow is TASERed

The department says the cow was angry and agitated

Associated Press

PELHAM, N.H. — The owner of a wayward cow in Pelham, N.H., that broke through a fence is speaking out against police use of a TASER to subdue the animal.

Police, meanwhile, are defending their actions.

Sgt. Mike Pickles tells the Eagle-Tribune that the cow was angry and agitated.

A TASER is a non-lethal device that delivers an electrical shock. It's typically used by police to subdue people trying to resist arrest.

The cow's owner, Wendy Bordeleau, is questioning whether use of the TASER was appropriate. She said relatives and neighbors had been working to corral the cow last weekend.

Pickles said the TASER did not injure the 600-plus-pound cow.
