FLORENCE, S.C. — A man was arrested Friday when he tried to arrange a drug deal with his former probation officer — then made the sale to a police officer.

Cedrick Barnes, 27, was reportedly going through the list of contacts on his cell phone, trying to find someone to buy marijuana, when he called his former probation officer, police said.

The "buyer" said to meet him at a shopping center parking lot and contacted Florence Police, who completed the transaction, according to SC Now

Maj. Carlos Raines said the department seized half a pound of marijuana worth $1,200.

Barnes is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of cocaine. He is free on bond.
