Video: Iowa police chase loose ram

The pet held up traffic and tried ramming cruisers for an hour before being captured

By PoliceOne Staf

DES MOINES, Iowa — Police had difficulty corralling a loose ram as the animal tried ramming squad cars and running through the capital’s streets.

“Several… officers decided they want to go see this big horned sheep, which some of us refer to as a ram. They wanted to go see if this was really the case, and if this was really the animal that was roaming the streets of Des Moines,” Police Chief Humane Officer Jim Butler told KCRG.

The 160-pound animal ran loose for an hour before being cornered and wrestled to the ground by police.

The owner, who claimed to be keeping it for a friend, was cited for having an animal that large.
