Cheetos trail leads police to robber

Police knew they were in the right place when more Cheetos were found on the front porch of the suspect's home

By PoliceOne Staff

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — A South Carolina man was busted for robbing a country store because of the trail of Cheetos he left behind.

Austin Presler, 19, shattered the front window of the store, and stole beer, cigarettes, snacks, and energy drinks on Jan. 6, leaving a trail of the orange snack on the ground, according to KLTV 7.

Kershaw County Sheriff’s office deputies were led to a nearby home based on surveillance video, where they found more Cheetos on the front porch, and the stolen items inside.

Presler was arrested and charged with burglary.
