The Craig Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Applications are available below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a citizen of the United States or a resident alien who has demonstrated the intent to become a citizen of the United States. Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of initial testing. Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Must have a valid drivers license. Must be physically sound and free from physical defects which would adversely affect performance as a police officer.(To be determined during a medical examination.) DISQUALIFIERS: The following will disqualify you from being hired as a Craig Police Officer: Felony conviction Misdemeanor conviction for: Domestic violence (DV)

Applicants must have a current Alaska Police Standards Council Certificate, approved academy, or equivalent out of state certification or training enabling Alaska Certification with the 80 hour Alaska Police Standards Transition Academy. Applicants must complete the Alaska Police Standard Council Form F-3 and Craig Police Department Application. Once the application has been accepted, applicants will be contacted and asked to proceed to the next level. An initial background investigation will be done. If necessary, a physical agility test will be performed. A complete physical will be done only on Alaska Police Standard Council form F-2. Chief's interview. Conditional offer of employment will be given. Drug screening performed (paid by the City of Craig). The applicant must pass all the above steps to be eligible to become a law enforcement officer. If the applicant cannot pass all the above, he or she will no longer be considered for employment.

APPLICATION FORMS NEEDED: City of Craig Police Officer Application APSC F-3 Personal History Statement APSC F-2 Medical History BENEFITS: Health Insurance for employee and family members after six months. State PERS Retirement System after one year of employment 12 days paid vacation. 12 days paid sick leave annually. Additionally, employees will receive one day times the number of their years of service added to their leave on their anniversary month each year as a longevity bonus (Example: 5 years service = 5 days added) PROBATION: All officers and dispatchers are required to sign a pre-employment agreement, which places them on a probationary status for a minimum of one year. Probationary employees can be released from employment, without cause, at any time during that probationary period. Probationary officers will be taken off probationary status only upon meeting the following criteria: 1. Completion of Field Training Officer Program. 2. Minimum of one year of full time employment with the Department. 3. Awarded a State of Alaska Basic Police Officer Certification
