Job Description
Operates an automobile in patrolling an assigned area for the prevention of crime and the enforcement of traffic laws and regulations; responds to radio and telephone dispatches and appears at scenes of disorder or crime; notes and reports traffic hazards; assists in controlling traffic at scenes of emergencies; investigates and prepares reports on accidents, offenses, and damage to property; gives directions and makes arrest; issues citations; gives verbal warnings; prepares reports on arrest and property impound; directs traffic and assist motorist, escorts parades and funerals; intervenes in private or public disputes to protect the public and to maintain order; appears in court to testify; investigates adult and juvenile complaints; performs interrogations; investigates parking complaints and attends training.

The CITY OF BEATRICE, Nebraska is accepting applications for the position of POLICE OFFICER. Applicants must be 21 years of age, must be a high school graduate or equivalent, must have a valid Nebraska Operator’s License, no felony convictions, and be of good moral character.

The Beatrice Police Department is a modern department that includes; mobile data terminals in patrol units, digital video recorders in all patrol units, digital cameras, laser and radar equipment, infrared equipment, and various other equipment.

The Beatrice Police Department allows opportunities to focus on certain areas of law enforcement. These areas include; bike patrol, emergency response team, crime scene team, drug investigator, school resource officer, firearms instructors, and various other opportunities.

SALARY AND BENEFITS – Ranges from $14.82 to $20.17 per hour. All uniform and equipment is furnished, paid holidays and sick leave, two weeks vacation the first year, retirement plan, paid life insurance plan, tuition reimbursement, in-house wellness center, and year around training.
