|
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: · Must have graduated from an accredited law school and be a member in good standing of the Idaho State Bar; · Experience as in house counsel, preferably with a local, county, state or federal agency; · Familiarity with legal research procedures using both the Internet and traditional research tools; · Knowledge of the laws and standards relating to law enforcement, confinement, and corrections; · Knowledge of Idaho criminal law and the policies and procedures of the Sheriff's Office Personnel and civil rights laws; · Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; · Ability to ascertain facts; · Ability to analyze the law, legal issues and situations and make recommendations regarding proper courses of action; · Ability to learn, apply and defend the Sheriff's Office's policies and procedures. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: · Must have and maintain a valid Idaho driver’s license; · Must pass a background investigation and a polygraph (lie detector) test; · Must be acceptable to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney to be deputized as an Ada County deputy prosecuting attorney for purposes of representing the Sheriff in Court and before administrative agencies. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: · The incumbent must be on-call twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week; · Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions; · Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to permit the employee to function in a general office environment and accomplish tasks. Preference in appointment will be given to eligible veterans. ***Due to the Sheriff Office's attempt to create a relatively smoke-free environment for those employees who choose not to smoke because of their growing concern for their health and welfare, applications from those who have not smoked will be considered for employment. Applicants must have not smoked tobacco products for at least eleven (11) months prior to applying.
