Job Description
Campus Police Officer: Full-Time, 12-Month, Bargaining Unit position. Provide for the safety and security of persons and property at events and attend community meetings. To provide preventive police patrol of the campus and nearby areas, enforcing state laws, city ordinances, and university regulations within a diverse educational environment. Conduct criminal and traffic investigations, make arrests, prepare necessary documentation and testify in court. Some of the potential specialty assignments are SWAT, Traffic, FTO, COP, Computer Crimes, and Bicycle Patrol.

Job Requirements
  • Age 21
  • Education High school graduation OR equivalent
  • Experience AND Two years of full-time college in Police Science OR allied field; OR One year of police OR campus security experience; OR equivalent education/experience
  • Additional Requirement :
    Minimum Qualifications: High school graduation OR equivalent; twenty-one years of age; possession of a valid driver's license; no previous felony convictions; AND Two years of full-time college in Police Science OR allied field; OR One year of police OR campus security experience; OR equivalent education/experience. Must obtain certification or complete a basic law enforcement course as approved by the Washington Law Enforcement Officer's Training Commission. Must successfully pass a criminal background check. Must be able to pass an Emergency Vehicle Operation Course (EVOC).

    Preferred Qualifications: Experienced and commissioned law enforcement officer under the regulations of the State of Washington or of another state. Strong interpersonal skills in order to interact with the public, other agencies, and co-workers in a positive manner.
