2 Chicago cops shot at traffic stop

The officers returned fire, striking the two suspects in the vehicle

CHICAGO  — Two officers became the target of gunfire during a traffic stop late Friday night in Washington Heights. Two others were also wounded in the shooting.

Police say that around 11:30 Friday night, two officers pulled over a vehicle at the corner of 93rd and Wallace. As they approached, a male passenger opened fire and wounded the officers.

A 38-year-old officer with 12 years of experience was shot in the knee. His 31-year-old partner, a six year police veteran, was saved when his police vest took the bullet.
