Cutting the ribbon at the 114th annual IACP convention
NOPD Superintendent Warren J. Riley (left) "cut to the chase" at this year's expo.
Conference attendees joined a panel of law enforcement dignitaries to hear brief remarks by IACP President Joseph C. Carter, who encouraged guests to take advantage of the seminars, workshops, networking, and product displays all happening under one vast roof.
“More vendors are here at this conference this year than ever before,” he said.
Carter introduced Warren J. Riley, Superintendent of the New Orleans Police Department. Riley, a 25-year veteran of the NOPD, was appointed to the position 28 days after Hurricane Katrina decimated the fabled city.
“The impact IACP attendees have had on our community has been tremendous,” he said. “Continue to enjoy yourself, continue to spend some money and gain a few pounds.”
No doubt proximity to some of some of the world’s best food and nightlife will make that “big” endeavor easy enough for the more than 17,000 attendees.
