ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando police Chief Val Demings took full responsibility for the theft of her gun as new details emerged Wednesday.

The pistol disappeared almost a month ago from an agency vehicle parked in her driveway, but the crime did not become public until a tipster contacted the Orlando Sentinel late Tuesday.
