Embattled Nev. police chief abruptly fired

The chief suspected he would be confronted when returning to work after a lengthy family leave

By Spencer Lubitz

Boulder City, Nev. — Boulder's City police chief has been fired. The city said Thomas Finn's employment with the City of Boulder City has been terminated, effective Monday.

Finn said he was returning for his first day of work after a lengthy family leave, when he was greeted by the city manager and city attorney who offered him the opportunity to resign. Finn said when he declined the offer, he was fired on the spot.

When asked about what's next for him, he said he's not going anywhere. He said he has more work to do in Boulder City and that he'll likely be seeing city officials again during a meeting with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
