Suspect remained on the run thanks to an assailant who tackled police in a videotaped struggle that went viral

BALTIMORE — A suspect who remained on the run — thanks to an assailant who tackled police in a videotaped struggle that went viral — has been arrested, court records show.

Forty-year-old Shershallan Bond-Brooks was taken into custody Thursday, according to the Baltimore Sun, and he faces charges of escaping arrest, assault and disorderly conduct.

In the video, two Baltimore police officers tried to handcuff a man in the middle of the street on New Year's Eve when suddenly, a man came from behind the officers and tackled one of them, allowing the man who was being detained to run away.

The officers struggled with the attacker, punching and kicking him in an attempt to subdue him. The attacker was taken into custody once a third officer arrived on scene.
