Connecticut: (In the old days this would have been settled between the two officers later, outside the PD. Now you go to jail. Ahhh, progress). East Windsor Officer John Scavotto first tested the Taser without its ammunition, a cartridge that stores two darts designed to hook onto flesh and deliver an immobilizing current.

New Jersey: Authorities were weighing Friday whether to charge a police sergeant who fatally shot his wife the day before in an apparent domestic dispute. The officer, Robert Vanaman, 37, suffered several stab wounds. He remained in the South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Vineland on Friday, and investigators had not been able to talk to him, said Cumberland County Prosecutor Ronald Casella.
