Mike Williams' 05.23.06 local cop news

Florida: Miami Commissioner arrested after fracas at airport.

Seattle: King County Executive Ron Sims intends to seek legislation to prevent cops convicted of and imprisoned for certain crimes from reaping publicly funded retirement benefits.

Chicago: The Chicago City Council next week will consider offering one-point-seven (m) million dollars to settle a lawsuit by a man who shot in the head by police eight years ago.

California: California Border Crossing Closed for 9 Hours After Fatal Police Shooting.

New Jersey: Charles Dunn is grieving his 19-year-old son's fatal shooting in March, and he has plenty of questions for the Willingboro police officer who pulled the trigger. One thing he's clear about, however, is his belief that the officer should have had the option of using a Taser stun gun against his knife-wielding son. New Jersey is the only state where it is illegal for police to carry Tasers, the result of a 1989 law banning all stun weapons.

Tennessee: Police officer gets back pay, promotion in settlement.
