Site helps police share crime reports with public

On CrimeReports.com, people can see notes about crimes in their neighborhoods and elsewhere

MARYSVILLE, Ohio — When Jamie Patton became Union County sheriff in April, he inherited an office that had lost 10 road deputies to layoffs last year.

He knew he didn't have the money to bring them back, but Patton now hopes that the $600 a year he has decided to spend on an online crime-tracking system will have the public helping him fill the gaps.
