Jackson police are investigating the apparent suicide of one of the department's patrol officers.

Arthur Allen, a city police officer for three years, shot himself this morning at his home at 3341 Center St. in Jackson, Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jeffery Scott said. Allen was off duty.

An acquaintance found Allen at the home about 10:15 a.m.

Police said they don’t suspect foul play.
