PoliceOne.com Takes Over All Operations Of Calibre Press And The Street Survival® Seminar

Combination yields powerful new force in law enforcement training

San Francisco - April 12, 2006 - PoliceOne.com, the leading information and online training resource for law enforcement, today announced that it has taken over all operations of Calibre Press, Inc., producers of the Street Survival® Seminar and publishers of the Street Survival Newsline, the Survival Selections catalog and numerous bestselling training books and videos.

The union of the two market-leading organizations creates the dominant law enforcement training and information provider and reflects one of the most significant combinations in the history of law enforcement training.

“For more than 25 years, Calibre Press has been one of the most respected names in police training,” said PoliceOne CEO Alexander S. Ford. “We started PoliceOne seven years ago with the goal of connecting law enforcement online and providing critical, timely information.  By taking over Calibre Press and the Street Survival® Seminar, we are now able to extend our mission beyond the Internet and into the classroom.”

Among the PoliceOne staff are several individuals responsible for originally building the Calibre Press Street Survival® Seminar and brand. They include PoliceOne Senior Contributor and Director of Special Projects, Chuck Remsberg, who co-founded Calibre Press and authored the bestselling "Street Survival" series, and PoliceOne’s Managing Editor and Director of Training, Scott Buhrmaster, who served as Calibre Press’s Director of Development for 10 years.

“PoliceOne’s dedication to law enforcement and officer safety mirrors the intensity that characterized Calibre Press when my business partner Dennis Anderson and I guided the company through its first 20 years as an independent law enforcement training organization,” Remsberg said. “With PoliceOne, there is now an unprecedented opportunity to reach the law enforcement market in new ways and provide a broader range of information and services.

Combined with the world class skills of the existing Calibre Press team—including Street Survival Seminar instructors Dave Smith, Jim Glennon, Ray DeCunto and Betsy Brantner-Smith—PoliceOne and Calibre Press boast the most recognized and respected officer survival experts in the world.

"This is the most exciting thing to happen to officer survival training in the history of law enforcement,” said Dave Smith, Lead Instructor for the Street Survival® Seminar. “It represents the dynamic next step in the evolution of Calibre Press and PoliceOne. The greatest team in police training has now been assembled and the benefits to officers worldwide will be extraordinary."

PoliceOne will also be taking over the Street Survival Newsline, an electronic newsletter sent to 70,000 officers; the popular Calibre Press web site (www.CalibrePress.com); and the Survival Selections product catalog, which is mailed to 250,000 officers.

“PoliceOne’s mission is to reach officers through every channel possible,” says Ford. “We are now the only organization offering cutting-edge information to law enforcement through a unique combination of online, print and classroom training.”
