Escaped Ohio cop killer still at large

The Associated Press
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio- The search continues today for a man charged in the slaying of a Chillicothe police officer who has escaped from the Ross County jail.

The FBI has joined local law enforcement in the search for 35-year-old John Parsons.

A deputy in the Ross County Sheriff's Office said they are trying to track down friends and family who might know Parsons' whereabouts.

The deputy said units are canvassing the county, but he wouldn't say whether they have reason to believe Parsons remains in the county.

Sheriff Ron Nichols says Parsons escaped from a rooftop recreation area yesterday using a rope of toilet paper and bed sheets.

He is charged with aggravated murder in the 2005 shooting death of officer Larry Cox.
