Video: Sheriff Joe heckled at TEA Party rally

County supervisors say they want the Sheriff’s Office to pay back money that they misspent

By PoliceOne Staff

PHOENIX — Maricopa County Sheriff’s office officials misspent nearly $100 million in restricted jail funds in the last eight years, according to budget officials in Arizona.

County supervisors say they want the Sheriff’s Office to pay that money back, but Sheriff Joe says its "garbage."

During his speech at a TEA Party rally in Arizona last week, a man began heckling from the crowd:

“A hundred million dollars!” the man shouted.

“Don’t worry about the hundred million,” Sheriff Joe responded on stage. “It’s a hundred-and-one million.”

The man then flashed a copy of the Constitution and asked how much more the Sheriff was going to take.

Watch the man get escorted away by police in the video below and learn more about the $100 million in USA Today.
