Teenager admits to slashing N.Y. officer's throat

The Associated Press

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — A 19-year-old Washington County man admits slashing a Saratoga Springs police officer's throat with a razor blade.
Seth Dawson of Shushan pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon for the Sept. 5 attack on Officer Adam Baker, who received a five-inch wound. Baker returned to work in November.

Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy III said he will ask Judge Jerry Scarano to impose the maximum sentence of 10 to 17 years in prison when Dawson is sentenced on March 12.

Police said Dawson was an outpatient who had walked away from the Four Winds mental health facility shortly before Baker confronted him.
