Ill. officer suffers fatal heart failure following 'brutal beating'
Dwayne Parks reportedly died of a heart attack just blocks from his home
Dwayne Parks, a cop with nearly two decades of service on the job, was on his way home from work when he was harassed and attacked by local teens on a South Side Chicago bus. Following that encounter, Parks reportedly died of a heart attack just blocks from his home.
According to a report in the Chicago Sun-Times, “an autopsy is pending police investigation and additional medical testing — although initial reports indicated he was badly beaten.”
The father of 11 children, Parks had served for six years as a military police officer in the U.S. Air Force prior to his employment as a hospital police officer at Stroger Hospital in Chicago.
