N.Y. man dies in police custody

The Associated Press

BELLROSE TERRACE, N.Y.- A driver who had drugs in his car stopped breathing while resisting arrest and died on the way to the hospital, Nassau County police said Monday.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine what caused the death of Richard Nedd, 43, of Queens Village.

Police said they had pulled Nedd over for a traffic violation on the Cross Island Parkway on Sunday when they found the drugs. Nedd also bit one of the two arresting officers, police said.

He was pronounced dead at Long Island Jewish Hospital.
