1,200 Pounds of Pot Found in Drug Bust, Miami Police Say

A drug bust in west Miami-Dade County uncovered nearly 1,200 pounds of pot Wednesday morning, police say.

Officers pulled over a car and pickup truck near Krome Avenue and Southwest 8th Street.

"This was a Mexican marijuana organization transporting marijuana," said Joe Kilmer of the Drug Enforcement Administration. "This is an investigation that started about a month ago with DEA agents (and others) and greatly assisted by the (Florida Highway Patrol) to affect the traffic stop Every thing went just like clockwork."

Kilmer said four people were arrested. They face anywhere from 10 years to life in prison based on the amount of marijuana recovered.
