ARLINGTON, Texas — Arlington police have opened an investigation in connection to a cell phone video of an officer taking down a teen suspect.
The incident was recorded Wednesday night outside a banquet hall hosting a teenage party, CBS DFW reported. The general manager shut down the event and told guests to leave after some started fights, which spread to the parking lot.
In the video, an Arlington officer takes down an unidentified female, 15, as the crowd shouts profanities at the officers. Five were arrested for fighting in public, including the female, who was later released to her parents.
Police said they were trying to de-escalate the situation and asked the public not to "rush to judgement" based on the clip. The officer remains on the force and has been assigned to traffic duty.
"We can’t see in the video what happened before," Sgt. Chris Cook said. "We know what the officer said happened, but that’s under investigation."
