MURRAY, Ky. — Utility crews made some progress Friday in restoring power to the more than 1.3 million homes and businesses darkened by an ice storm that crippled states from Missouri to West Virginia, but thousands were still bunking in toasty shelters because their homes had no water or heat.

Deputies trekked door-to-door in many communities to let people know where shelters were, forced to spread the word the old-fashioned way because cell phone and Internet service was spotty .... Full Story

Proof is in the review
We go to great lengths to train ourselves how to respond under stress, how to protect ourselves when attacked by suspects and how to protect them from harm when we take them into custody. When it is all over, we write it up. Our task is to accurately and clearly document what happened. Sound simple? P1 Video Training Tip
Knife-gun demonstrated

Today’s video tip adds another dimension to the threat a “knife” poses. Not only should you remember that a knife-wielding suspect can cover a surprising amount of ground quickly, but also that the “knife” itself may not be what you think it is. Be ready for anything — always ... Full tip

Gamber-Johnson has released two new Center Upper Poles. The new poles offer closer mounting to the dash when off-set adjustability is not needed. Less stress is placed on the vehicle mounting equipment as gravity is centered on the pole and not off-set as with other DS-UPPER pole products.

Comment of the Week

"Interesting. I recently completed a study in which I discovered that following the law and not involving yourself in criminal activity will result in a nearly 100 drop in your chances of a police in-custody death. Of all the people I didn't arrest last year, not one of them died in my custody."
