Editor's Note:

Congratulations and best wishes to PoliceOne’s own Sgt. Betsy Brantner Smith, who retired yesterday from the force after nearly 30 years of service. Be sure to check out Betsy’s column where she writes: “I’ll still be part of the profession. I’ll be training and writing, I’ll continue to carry a gun every where I go.” To send Betsy your best wishes or contribute your thoughts on retirement, post your comment beneath the article.

Budget reduction proposed for Officers' Death Benefits Program

(AP Photo)

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration wants to cut the Public Safety Officers' Death Benefits Program from $110 million to $60 million.

The Bullard TacPole lets officers see areas that are not easily viewable. Attach a thermal imager to the TacPole and see over walls, attics, suspended ceilings or into basements or collapsed buildings. Its quick-attach design makes for easy transitioning of a thermal imager from the pole to a handheld operation.
