Editor's Note:

I want to offer some words of thanks, beginning with Ken Wallentine who took time from his vacation to pen a very thoughtful piece on the confirmation of Justice Sotomayor. Thanks also to the American Red Cross for dispensing more than 4500 bottles of water to the friends and family of Agent Robert Rosas, and to ARC volunteer Brad Mellon, who allowed us to use the images he captured during Rosas' funeral.

Check out the featured column by Lt. Jim Glennon about the murder of Agent Rosas and our effort to get this subject into the national media spotlight.

By and large, cops are politically conservative. So it is no surprise that some law enforcement officers are bemoaning the confirmation of Justice Sonia Sotomayor. But is the concern justified? Justice Sotomayor's written decisions and oral comments during years of trials and appellate hearings demonstrate that she listens intently to the needs and concerns of the cop on the street ...
