Editor's Note:

Today’s news offers both tragedy and triumph. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the men and women of North St. Paul (Minn.) PD, who recently suffered the first line of duty shooting death in their department’s 122-year history.

We also want to highlight the incredible work of Detective April Leatherwood of the Memphis (Tenn.) PD, who spent a year undercover, resulting in more than 280 arrests. Police officers put their lives on the line each day. In Minnesota one has lost his, and in Tennessee one has gotten hers back.
