Dear PoliceOne Member,

An opinion poll by the Pew Research Center indicates that 59 percent of Americans approve of SB 1070, Arizona's new law cracking down on illegal immigration, and 17 states are presently considering legislation akin to the Arizona law.

The bill is opposed by some in law enforcement and supported by others. Whichever side of the fence you're on, it's clear that SB 1070 has national - even global - implications. Today we present a special series of columns and articles that address the issue, including a letter to law enforcers from Janice L. Jacobs, Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs.
