Four ever warriors: Fallen warriors of OPD

Dear PoliceOne Member,

Today is a day of solemn remembrance. Three years ago, Oakland (Calif.) PD officers Mark Dunakin, John Hege, Ervan Romans, and Daniel Sakai were taken from us by a man whose name does not merit mention in this space. These men were not merely heroes in death — they were heroes every day of their lives. Today we offer a handful of special features, which commemorate this somber anniversary.

Please use this occasion not only for reflection on the past, but for contemplation of the future, promising yourself and your fellow-LEOs "Not today, not on this shift, not on this call, not on this stop — I will not be caught unaware!"

Four-ever warriors: Fallen warriors
of OPD

These warriors hit the streets every day, willing to keep the citizens of their city safe from criminal enterprise. They did this at the expense of their own lives. That day, my heart was with Oakland PD and the families of these American heroes.
