Gunman says he shot NY rookie 'Because I hate cops'

Rashun Robinson, 28, has been arrested on attempted murder, assault, weapon possession and other charges

ABC New York

BROOKLYN — Police say 26-year-old Officer James Li got into a gun battle with the suspect at Utica Avenue and Empire Boulevard in Crown Heights. Rashun Robinson, 28, has been arrested on attempted murder, assault, weapon possession and other charges.

Robinson didn't even make an attempt to get bail Thursday night. He was arraigned in Kings County Criminal Court on a number of felony counts, including the attempted murder of a police officer.

"The question was put to him, why did you shoot? 'Because I hate cops.' No other reason," said Pat Lynch, PBA President.
