Mass. State Police trooper, other driver seriously injured in crash

MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass.- A tractor-trailer struck a Massachusetts Highway Department truck and a state police cruiser on Interstate 495 on Wednesday, seriously injuring a trooper and the state truck's driver.

The crash occurred about 1:45 p.m., while the truck and cruiser were parked on the right side of the southbound lanes in Middleborough for pothole repair work, state police Trooper Tom Ryan said.

Ryan said the tractor trailer hit the truck, forcing it over a guardrail and into a wooded area. It then hit the cruiser.
