Okla.-- City of Shawnee employee Glen Collins died Tuesday shortly before noon as a result of a two-vehicle accident on SH 102.

Shawnee Police Chief Mike Chitwood said Collins, 72, was traveling north on SH 102 and attempted to turn left onto Belcher Road. An 18-wheel gravel truck driven by Michael Moore of Wellston was heading south, Chitwood said, and struck the vehicle driven by Collins broadside on the passenger side.

The accident occurred at 11:43 a.m. Chitwood said the fatality is being considered an on-duty death. "He either didn't see the truck, or he misjudged the distance to the truck," Chitwood said. Officer Jon Leathers investigated the fatal wreck.
