Additional Info: Sergeant Tommaso Popolizio was a 12-year veteran of the Newark Police Department. He is survived by his wife, four children, and a brother.
Cause of Death: Popolizio died from injuries sustained when his patrol car rolled during a vehicle pursuit.

A decorated Newark police sergeant was killed early yesterday when his car flipped over while he was pursuing another police vehicle, which had been commandeered by its handcuffed occupant.
Sgt. Tommaso Popolizio, 33, was taken to University Hospital with massive head injuries from the crash, which occurred around 4 a.m. on Doremus Avenue. He was pronounced dead at 5:55 a.m., a hospital spokesman said.
