FORT WAYNE, Ind. — A Fort Wayne man has been formally charged with battery after police said he bit an officer’s finger and had to be struck several times before letting go.

Chad Redden, 35, of the 2100 block of Cass Street, was initially arrested April 14 after officers responded to a domestic problem at 4:35 a.m., court documents said.

When officers arrived, they found Redden sitting in front of a home talking loudly and “crazy,” police said.
