Tex. officer dies on duty; struck by suspected drunk driver

BEAUMONT, Tex. — Officer Lisa Beaulieu, a 6-year Beaumont Police Department veteran, was killed early Friday morning becoming the first female officer to die in the line of duty in Beaumont.

Shortly before 1 a.m., while directing traffic at the scene of a motorcycle accident on Eastex Freeway south of the Delaware Street overpass, Beaulieu stopped to speak with occupants of a nearby car. At that same time, a Chrysler Concord came upon the parked cars and swerved to the right traveling onto the shoulder. The Concord, driven by a 24-year old Beaumont man, struck Beaulieu who fell over the side of the freeway and landed on the service road below . . .Full Story
