FORT WAYNE, Ind — A Noble County inmate jumped 18 feet from the third-floor Courthouse rotunda after his request for a bond reduction was denied at a hearing Thursday.

Jeremy J. Handshoe, 27, of Kendallville broke his left leg in the fall, the Noble County Sheriff’s Department said.

A Noble Circuit Court judge had just denied Handshoe’s request for a bond reduction, Prosecutor Steven Clouse said. Clouse said he was standing on a stairway below the rotunda in the County Courthouse in Albion when he looked up and saw Handshoe jump.
