The next day will be critical for an Atlanta Police officer who suffered serious brain injuries in a collision with an ambulance in southeast Atlanta Friday night, authorities said Saturday.

The officer's car was demolished after hitting an ambulance — both had been called to a fatal shooting in southeast Atlanta. Both vehicles were traveling at a high rate of speed.

Once freed from the wreckage of his cruiser, the officer, identified as Peter Faatz, was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital. ...
